The difference between dry and wet grinding
Dry grinding and wet grinding refer to the different methods used in industrial production to finely grind a certain raw material. The main differences between the two are reflected in the following aspects:
Abrasive state: Dry grinding refers to grinding under anhydrous conditions, while wet grinding is grinding under the condition of adding water or other liquids.
Environmental requirements: Due to the addition of water or other liquids, wet grinding usually requires equipment that is relatively enclosed and requires high environmental humidity, while dry grinding equipment is not subject to these limitations.
Energy consumption: Wet grinding requires additional energy for water stirring and mixing, so the energy consumption may be slightly higher than dry grinding.
Sanding effect: During wet grinding, due to the lubricating effect of water, wear and friction can be reduced, resulting in less heat generation. Therefore, it has a certain safety advantage for some flammable, explosive, and oxidizable materials.
Powder quality: Wet grinding can grind the raw materials more finely, resulting in a more delicate powder than dry grinding.
In practical applications, according to the characteristics of the raw materials and the requirements of the production process, dry or wet grinding can be selected for fine grinding treatment. For example, for some easily oxidizable metal powders or flammable materials, wet grinding is usually chosen to improve safety; Some fields that require high particle size of powders may be more suitable for wet grinding. For some materials with higher hardness, dry grinding can also be chosen for treatment.
